Knights End the Season Strong!
In basketball news, both the girls and boys teams traveled to Stettler on March 4th to compete in CARA basketball playoffs. The teams battled hard against many tough teams and both were able to earn a spot into CWAJHAA, which is the final level of playoffs for junior high sports between teams in central Alberta.
On March 10th and 11th, the girls travelled to Coronation for CWAJHAAs. The girls had a very close first game versus Lacombe Christian, losing a back and forth affair by just 3 points. This game was played Friday evening. The loss moved the girls to the "B" side of the tournament. They played Delburne Saturday morning and were victorious. With the win, the team moved into the Consolation Final. They lost to David Thompson School in the final which means they finished fourth in the CWAJHAA tournament. To wrap up the great season the coaches, Mr. Ries and Mr. Finkbiner, met with the players on Tuesday March 14th to hand out individual certificates to each player that recognizes their team, and individual, accomplishments. The girls had an excellent year. The players were very dedicated all season long, and it was a long one since practices began in early November. The girls played a total of 25 games between exhibition games, league games, and six tournaments. What a great season girls!
On March 4th, the boys played some very hard fought and exciting games at CARA against some very competitive teams and came away in 5th place earning a spot in CWAJHAA. On March 1oth and 11th, the boys took part in CWAJHAA at Gus Wetter school. The Knights played with a great deal of determination at 4:00pm Friday afternoon but were down a key player to illness, and ended the afternoon with a defeat against Mecca Glen. This led to an 8:00 am game Saturday morning vs Spruce View. The Knights closed a huge gap to just 3 baskets in the final quarter, despite a late game injury and foul trouble for a couple of grade 9 players. It was a very exciting season of basketball and tremendous opportunity for all involved to learn the skills and team play necessary for success. Thanks again to the parents, fans and last but not least coaches Nicole Roland and Mr. Fetaz for all the support that they gave the Knights. If not for their support their season would have been far less enjoyable and rewarding. Great job this year boys!
We are already looking forward to next year Knights!
Heading into the second half of the basketball season there are many games and tournaments left to be played. If you can make it to any games to cheer on our Knights, they will greatly appreciate the support.

Knights Travel to Consort!
The junior high girls travelled to Consort this past weekend, Feb. 4th, and got to play some teams they don't often see. First, they played Veteran and lost a heartbreaker by 1 basket. They then played Oyen in the 3rd/4th place final and squeaked out a 1 point win. Certainly intense games. The girls are off to Forestburg this weekend for a 2 day tournament - February 10 and 11. Good luck Knights!
Theresetta Girls Home Tournament
Theresetta hosted a six teams girls junior high basketball tournament on Saturday, January 28. The Consort Stingers, Coronation Angels, Brownfield Bobcats, Gus Wetter Tigers, Forestburg Falcons, and Theresetta Knights all attended. The tournament draw was organized into two pools of three teams. Each team played three games. Forestburg finished 1st, Gus Wetter 2nd, and Coronation 3rd.
We would like to thank all of the teams and spectators for making our tournament a huge success. Also, we would liketo thank parents of Theresetta players for all of their efforts running the concession throughout the day!
Boys Travel to Killiam Tournament
The boys had a very close, competitive and very fun tournament in Killiam Saturday, Jan. 14th. They had a close 3 point game with Sedgewick. Every one improved their skills, confidence, and played a disciplined game of basketball. Their behaviour was exemplary as well. We owe a huge thanks to our head coach Nicole Roland, who gave us very positive and helpful ideas and tips all weekend. Thanks, coach! We had a very enjoyable time.
